Multi colored flashing lights illuminated the smoky room. The sound system shook her nervous system at decibels that threatened jet engines. Arms flared in a wave of obnoxious banter. "I REALLY LIKE THAT THE..." The shrill voice of the person in front of her jolted her back to the room. What was he rambling about? What was it about his voice that made her feel like fleeing? She nodded and smiled-- it was her fatal flaw. He continued talking getting increasingly more obnoxious with every syllable. She looked around the room. It wasn't just him. It was everyone. She tried to remember the last time she wasn't just smiling and nodding-- the last time she had a conversation in which she actually wanted to be apart of. Lately she felt as if she never really wanted to be where she was. Even when she was having a good time it never felt quite real; it was as if she wanted to be somewhere else. She didn't seem to enjoy much of anything anymore yet she was still there because the blinding flashing lights, the deafening rhythms and the sea of sloppy people couldn't even compare to the calamity she felt when left alone to her own thoughts. For a split second she wondered if the problem wasn't people-- what if the problem were her? She scoffed at that thought and quickly ducked into the nearest exit to escape the situation. She didn't say goodbye to anyone. After all, She'd be back tomorrow.
